USDTRY has been grinding higher in recent months and this week, it hit a new record high at 8.76. There was a major correction between November-February but since then, the pair has resumed its long-term uptrend.

The momentum oscillators reflect the latest spike higher, with the RSI testing its 70 level and the MACD having just crossed above its red trigger line.

If buyers remain in charge and manage to push the pair above the all-time high of 8.76, that would bring the market into uncharted waters. In this case, resistance to further advances may be found near round psychological numbers like 8.90, or better yet, around the 9.00 region.

On the downside, the first area to offer support may be the 8.58 zone, which was a previous record high. If violated, the focus would then turn towards the 8.45 barrier, marked by a series of peaks between March and April.
