Analysts say Nokia unlikely to sell Mobile Networks unit after it denies speculations
** A media report about Samsung's 005930.KS interest in Nokia's NOKIA.HE Mobile Networks unit sent the Finnish 5G gear maker's shares to April 2023 highs on Thursday, but analysts say any such deal is unlikely
** Nokia said late on Thursday it has nothing to announce in relation to the speculations and "no related insider project exists"; Samsung said it does not comment on speculation
** "We believe the possibility of sale of Mobile Networks business is low unless the potential acquirer offers a significantly higher sum than quoted in the article," J.P.Morgan says
** Kimmo Stenvall from OP Markets is also sceptical, saying Mobile Networks plays a key role in Nokia's patent development
** Stenvall says the EUR 10 billion ($11.1 billion) valuation cited in the report is "unrealistically high" considering the unit's earnings capacity
** He adds the valuation would seem more reasonable if a potential deal also included Cloud and Network Services
** "On a practical level, divesting the unit could be a very difficult task, even if on paper it seems an attractive option," Inderes analyst Atte Riikola writes in a note
** Nokia shares are down 0.3% at 0843 GMT
($1 = 0.9019 euros)
