Australian mining stocks hit 3-1/2-month high on strong metal prices
** Australian mining sub-index .AXMM jumps as much as 2.8% to hit its highest level since June 11
** Sub-index on track to post its fourth straight session of gains, if trend holds
** So far this week, the sub-index has gained 10.2% and is on track to post its biggest weekly gain since early March, 2016
** Prices of iron ore futures as well as copper prices surge after top consumer China's pledge for more stimulus injected further confidence just as the last wave of monetary easing-led frenzy faded IRONORE/ MET/L
** BHP Group BHP.AX gains as much as 3.1% to hit its highest level since July 4
** Rio Tinto RIO.AX adds as much as 3.6% to A$127.66, its highest since June 4
** Fortescue FMG.AX advances as much as 5.3% to hit its highest since July 29
** Sub-index down 9.3% YTD, underperforming the benchmark ASX200 .AXJO index, which is up 8.1%
