Banco Santander sells about 5.2% stake in Polish unit for $635 mln
Sept 11 (Reuters) -Spain's Banco Santander SAN.MC has sold 5.3 million shares in its Polish unit, Santander Bank Polska SPL1.WA, for about 2.46 billion zlotys gross ($635.43 million), the bank said late on Tuesday.
The shares represent about 5.2% of Santander Bank Polska share capital.
The sale was carried out via an accelerated placement at a price of 463 zlotys per share, a discount of 7.9% to Santander Bank Polska's Tuesday's close of 502.8 zlotys.
Upon settlement of the placement, Banco Santander will continue to hold a majority shareholding in Santander Bank Polska, corresponding to 62.2% of its share capital, it said.
"Poland remains a core market for Banco Santander and Banco Santander will continue to support the current strategy of Santander Bank Polska and its strategic targets for 2024-26," Banco Santander said in a statement.
