- British power firm Drax Group DRX.L has come under further fire from environmentalists after it failed to report accurate sustainability data about the sourcing of the wood pellets it burns to generate electricity.
- Sainsbury's SBRY.L has struck a multimillion-pound deal to buy 10 stores from home improvement retailer Homebase that it will convert into supermarkets.

- Lloyds Banking Group LLOY.L, Britain's biggest mortgage provider, is increasing the maximum sums it is willing to lend first-time buyers in a 2-billion-pound ($2.63 billion) move.
- A series of weekend strikes by train drivers on London North Eastern Railway (LNER) from Saturday has been called off, their trade union Aslef has announced.
