GS downgrades Terna, Fortum, but sees demand growth for European power cos
** Goldman Sachs downgrades Italy's Terna TRN.MI and Finland's Fortum FORTUM.HE to "sell" from "neutral" on limited share upside and weaker profit and investment outlooks for the two power utilities
** By 0720 GMT, Terna shares are down 1.5% while Fortum drops 2.1%
** GS says Terna relies on government incentives which should fade over time, while Fortum faces 20% weaker power prices in the near term due to the expected oversupply of LNG by 2028
** It prefers EDPR EDPR.LS and RWE RWEG.DE among independent power producers, and Enel ENEI.MI, E.ON EONGn.DE, Iberdrola IBE.MC, National Grid NG.L, Orsted ORSTED.CO and SSE SSE.L in power distribution (all "buy")
** It expects power demand to inflect soon after 15 years of decline, thanks to the contribution from AI data centres and the gradual electrification process
