ANKARA, Sept 5 (Reuters) -Here are news, reports and events that may affect Turkish financial markets on Thursday.

The lira TRYTOM=D3 traded at 34.0110 against the U.S. dollar at 0433 GMT, from a close of 33.9950 on Wednesday.

The main BIST 100 share index .XU100 closed 0.37% lower at 9,984.93 points on Wednesday.


GLOBAL MARKETS

Asian share markets tried to regain their footing on Thursday after a steep sell-off, while a rally in Treasuries dented the dollar and lifted the yen as U.S. economic worries raised the odds of the Federal Reserve going big on rate cuts.


MEDIUM-TERM PROGRAMME

Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz will announce the government's medium-term programme for 2025-2027 at the presidential palace in Ankara. Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek will also attend the event. (0600 GMT)


FOREIGN MINISTER

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will hold an official visit to North Macedonia and hold talks with officials, as well as representatives of the local Turkish community and Turkish businesspeople.


ENVIRONMENT MINISTER

Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change Minister Murat Kurum will participate in examinations on the Gulf of Izmir with TUBITAK and attend a meeting of the Gulf of Izmir Coordination Council afterwards. (0800 GMT) (1100 GMT)


CENTRAL BANK DATA

The Central Bank will release its weekly money and banking statistics and monthly data on reserves. (1130 GMT)


TURKEY-EGYPT

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi discussed the Gaza war and ways to further repair the long-frozen ties between the regional powers during talks in Ankara, in the first such presidential visit in 12 years.


TURKEY-SAUDI ARABIA COOPERATION

Turkey's central bank said on Wednesday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi central bank earlier this week, laying the groundwork for enhanced cooperation.


CENTRAL BANK

Turkey's fiscal policy will be critical to ensure that inflation remains on its downward path now that aggressive interest rate hikes are beginning to yield results, central bank deputy governor Hatice Karahan said in an interview.
