US Cash Grains-Corn, soybean basis bids steady to lower
CHICAGO, Sept 3 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly steady to lower at grain elevators, processors and terminals across the U.S. Midwest on Monday, spot checks showed.
* Many locations continued to roll the corn basis to the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) December CZ24 futures contract as the September contract CU24 nears its delivery phase and Sept. 13 expiration.
* The soy basis fell by 15 cents at river terminals in Toledo, Ohio and Seneca, Illinois. It fell by 18 cents at a terminal in Davenport, Iowa.
* The corn basis bid fell by 1 cent at an elevator in Cincinnati, Ohio, and by 2 cents at a processor in Decatur, Illinois.
* Ethanol plants were exceptions with the corn basis up 2 cents at a Union City, Indiana, plant and up 5 cents at an Annawan, Illinois, plant.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture is slated to issue an update on soy and corn condition ratings in a weekly crop report on Tuesday, one day later than normal due to the Labor Day holiday on Monday.
