US Cash Grains-Soybean and corn basis bids mostly steady
CHICAGO, Sept 13 (Reuters) -Spot basis bids for soybean and corn were mostly steady on Friday as buyers and farmers turned their attention to a harvest that is already underway or set to begin in some areas, dealers said.
* Growers are reluctant to sell as prices remain low.
* The corn basis ticked up at an Iowa processor and dipped at a Nebraska processor.
* Spotty showers in the U.S. Midwest in the next week might ease heat stress to the soy crop, but could prevent the crop from drying down sufficiently ahead of harvest in other areas, an analyst note said.
* The U.S. Department of Agriculture raised its forecast for U.S. corn production and yields on Thursday, surprising traders who expected declines following a spell of dry summer weather.
* USDA trimmed its projection for soybean production in a monthly report, though the crop is still expected to be the largest ever.
* CBOT December corn CZ24 was last up 4-3/4 cents to $4.11 per bushel as of 1510 and November soybeans SX24 were last down 2 cents $10.09 per bushel.
