US chipmakers rise after last week's slump

** Philadelphia semiconductor index .SOX rises 2.3%on Monday after an 8.8% slide last week
** Heavyweight Nvidia NVDA.O up 3%, biggest boost to Nasdaq .IXIC and S&P 500 .SPX after areport co is working on a version of its new flagship AI chips for the China market
** Leading gains on the Nasdaq 100 .NDX were chip-making equipment companies such as Applied Materials AMAT.O, Lam Research LRCX.O and KLA Corp KLAC.O, rising between 3.9% and 4.3%
** Broadcom AVGO.O and Qualcomm QCOM.O rise 1.3% and 3.1%, respectively
** Onsemi ON.O up 4.7%;company strikes multi-year deal to power Volkswagen's next-generation electric vehicles
** Advanced Micro Devices AMD.O rises 1.6%, while U.S.-listed shares of contract chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing TSM.N are up 0.9%
** On the flip side, Super Micro SMCI.O slips 2.7%as it enters $500-mln term loan facility credit agreement
** The iShares Semiconductor ETF SOXX.O rises 2.4%, while the VanEck Semiconductor ETF SMH.O is up 2.3%
** SOX up 28% YTD versus 16% gain in the S&P 500 .SPX
