Nextera Energy Partners jumps after Jefferies starts with "buy"
** NextEra Energy Partners' NEP.N shares rise 4.3% to nearly 2-mth high of $26.96 on Thurs after Jefferies initiated coverage with "buy" rating
** Brokerage sets PT at $28, implying ~8% upside to stock's last close
** NEP will likely need to cut its dividend substantially to address ~$3.75 bln convertible equity portfolio buyouts between 2025-2032, Jefferies said in note, but added it thinks the market has "largely digested" this issue
** Jefferies sees parent-firm Nextera Energy NEE.N driving more constructive outcome for NEP unitholders, saying believes a sale of co to a new sponsor is the most likely scenario
** Brokerage also started coverage of renewable energy giant NEE, assigning a "hold" rating and $87 PT, pointing to its shares outperformance and are now trading at +30% premium to the avg utility on 2027 P/E
** Shares of NEE down 2.3% on the session at $82.31
** Of 18 brokerages covering NEP, 4 rate "strong buy" or "buy", 10 rate "hold" and 4 recommend "sell" and median PT is $28, per LSEG
** With move on Thurs, NEP shares down ~12% YTD and off 45% over the past 12 months
