US Cash Grains-Corn, soy basis mostly flat; rains may slow harvesting
CHICAGO, Sept 20 (Reuters) -Basis bids for corn and soybeans were mostly unchanged in the U.S. Midwest on Friday, stabilizing after a week in which the harvest of both crops expanded and pressured the basis in some locations, merchandisers said.
* Warm and mostly dry weather in the Corn Belt this week helped to advance crop maturity and harvest progress.
* Rains were forecast to build across the central and southern Plains and much of the Midwest this weekend into early next week, space technology company Maxar said in a daily note, potentially slowing field work while recharging soil moisture.
* The corn basis firmed back up by 2 cents a bushel at Decatur, Illinois, a grain processing hub, one day after falling by 2 cents. Spot checks showed no changes elsewhere.
* At the Chicago Board of Trade on Friday, December corn CZ24 settled down 4 cents at $4.01-3/4 per bushel and November soybeans SX24 ended down 1-1/4 cents at $10.12 a bushel, pressured by harvest progress and expectations of bumper U.S. crops. GRA/
